Questions & Answers

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy practice that channels universal life force through light touch or hands just above the body. It’s gentle, non-invasive, and supportive for stress reduction, balance, and overall well-being.
Do I need to prepare anything before the session?
No special preparation is needed. Just come in comfortable clothing and with an open mind. You may wish to reflect on an intention, but it’s not required.
What do you mean by “reflect on an intention”?
An intention is simply a gentle focus for our time together. It can come from any area of your life - physical (like easing tension or fatigue in a particular area), mental (finding clarity or quiet), emotional (cultivating an open heart or emotional release), or spiritual (feeling more connected or grounded). If you’re not sure what to choose, we can uncover an intention together at the start of your session.
What happens during the session?
We’ll begin with a short conversation to clarify your focus, followed by Reiki while you rest on a massage table. The session closes with reflection and integration before you head back into your day.
Is Reiki hands-on?
Reiki can be done with light touch or completely hands-off - whichever you’re most comfortable with. You’ll be able to share your preference before we begin.
What might I feel during Reiki?
Everyone’s experience is unique. Some people feel warmth, tingling, deep relaxation, or emotional release; others simply feel calm and rested. Reiki works subtly, often in ways you notice later.
Is Reiki a substitute for medical care?
No. Reiki is a complementary practice that supports your body’s natural healing and well-being. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, or replace medical or mental health care.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing. You’ll remain fully clothed and simply lie back on the massage table with a blanket if desired.
What if I fall asleep?
That’s perfectly fine! Many people drift into a light sleep during Reiki. Your body still receives the benefits whether you are awake or asleep.
What can I expect to feel afterward?
Most people feel more relaxed, clear, and grounded. Sometimes subtle shifts continue for days after the session. Drink plenty of water and give yourself gentle time to integrate.
Where do I park?
The Healing Society offers lots of free parking! I'll greet you by the door and walk you into our studio for the session.
